Series Beginning April 27: The Prophets, Jesus, and the Culture Wars: Scripture and Wesleyan Tradition as Guides

How do Israel’s prophetic writings express “sacred criticism”—a distinct approach to confronting evil and injustice, while acknowledging the wholeness of history, the interconnectedness of all life, and the reality of divine love? How do the stories told by and about Jesus, who follows int the prophetic tradition, help us ask the right questions about the issues fracturing society today?  We’ll explore the prophets, including Jesus’ prophetic voice through his parables, healings, instructions, and debates to help us navigate both community responsibility and personal ethics on topics such as creation, health care, economics, ethnicity, family values and more.

Based on the book, The Tears of Things by Richard Rohr and the work of Amy-Jill Levine.
